I first visited the Manatee Park when I was eight years old while on vacation with my parents. We wanted to find something cool and new to do. I was happy to see a playground and the manatees. The playground has since been added on to and is accommodating to various age groups. We went on a tour of the park which was given by one of the happy volunteers. She showed us all the different biomes of the park. I have since moved to florida and visited the park a few times a year just to see what had changed and to take others to see it when they came to visit. I hadn’t given the park a whole lot of attention until recently. I had attended a charter school in Fort Myers and I needed about one hundred hours of volunteer service hours to graduate. I was in yearbook class but, I didn’t have very many hours done before senior year. I looked to the manatee park for help, to achieve volunteer hours. After working a few work days, I started to love the people that volunteer and work at this amazing park. Even after high school and into my college years, I help the park however I can. Mostly in photography and advertising. It’s people like me and you that can make anything great if we put our minds to do it. Just think, so many years ago, teenage kids started the Manatee Park and it lives on today as being one of the most promising parks in Lee County Florida. Bringing something green and peaceful into a crazy world. Adding a sanctuary for beautiful creatures is always a win.
